Whether you buy into the notion that foods located on the perimeter of the grocery store (fruits, vegetables, dairy, eggs, cheese, butter, yogurt, meat, seafood, bakery, and deli) are healthier than the ready-to-eat foods found in the center aisles (high-fat, high-sodium ready-to-eat packages), you have to admit that homemade meals prepared from fresh, wholesome, unprocessed ingredients are satisfying, tasty, and reminiscent of all those home-cooked meals growing up.
This section is for the children/grandchildren establishing their own households and seeking the recipe to healthier and tastier eating. The ingredients can usually be found in the periphery.
I recommend, whenever possible, to use locally sourced foods with as little processing and as few additives as possible. Go organic when you can, but do everything possible to support the local food producers in your community.
